This Visitor's Center gives information about the Shiloh National Military Park and the Battle of Shiloh. The Shiloh National Battlefield Park Book Store (in front of the visitor's centre) is considered on of the best book stores of the National Battlefield Parks
The Battle of Shiloh was fought on 6 and 7 April 1862 by Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War. The battle was one of the largest battles of the entire war and involved over 100,000 soldiers. The battle resulted in a Union victory.
In the battle, in total about 3,500 men were killed, 16,000 wounded and 4,000 missing or captured. The losses involving dead and wounded were about equal on both sides.
