First Boer War (1880-1881)
The First Boer War was a war that took place from 1880 until in 1881 and was fought between the South African Republic (ZAR), also known as Transvaal, and the British Empire. The cause of this war was the wish for independence after the british had annexed the area shortly before. The war ended in the advantage for the South African Republic and the recapturing and recognition of Transvaal as an independent state. A total of 450 people were killed in this war. The majority of the victims were British.
