The Grand Cross can be worn as collar or sash. It consists of a white enameled Latin Cross, with red enameld border, made of gold, gilded silver or silver. Between the arms of the cross one can find a total of four crowns. On top of the cross is the monogram of the reigning monarch and a crown.
The obverse of the cross shows the monogram of Chritian V and the text "GUD OG KONGEN", God and the King, the orders motto.
The reverse bears the monogram of Frederik VI and the years "1219", "1671" and "1808".
The collar is made of gold. The breaststar of the Grand Cross is a 8-pointed fluted silver star with the Latin Cross on it. In very special occaisions the breaststar can be awarded with "brilliants".
