The "Jubiläumsmedaille für die Armee 1905" was instituted on March 12th, 1905, due to the 70 year military anniversary of Prince Regent Leopold.
The decoration was awarded to all officers, medical officers, Petty Officers and Ensigns in active service.
The awarding was enlarged to lower ranks and civil personnel on June 20th, 1905.
Still living recipients of the gold and silver "Militärverdienst-Medaille" were also awarded the medal.
A total of 22.033 medals were produced by the "Münchener Hauptmünze". The oval and bronze medal has image on the front and writing on the reverse.
The front shows a left facing image of the Prince Regent with a small oak leave cluster below. Along the edge the text "LUITPOLD – PRINZ – REGENT – VON – BAYERN" can be found.
The reverse shows the text "AM 70 - JAHRESTAG - MEINES DIENST- - ANTRITTES - DER BAYER. - ARMEE - GEWIDMET - XII.III.MCMV".
The ribbon is red with left and right a 3mm wide green edge.
