Frontflugspange für Jäger

The Frontflugspange für Jäger was instituted on 30th January 1941. The decoration was instituted with three grades, bronze, silver and gold for 20, 60 and 110 operational flights. The decoration was at first introduced for all fighter pilots. Also pilots of Zerstörer-, Schlagt- and Nachtjagdflieger, at first received this specific decoration. On 26th June 1942 a hanger was introduced to go with the gold grade for 400 operational sorties. On 29th April 1944 the hanger with sorties number was introduced. This was to be awarded with every hundred additional sorties with a maxmum of 1800. As a special award a version with diamonds and a haner with the number of 2000 sorties could be awarded.
