The Golden Honorary Medal of the Staaten-Generaal (traditionally called the Ambassador's Medal) was established in 1628. Normally, the medal was awarded to Dutch ambassadors returning from abroad. However, the medal was also awarded to fleet commanders who had taken part in the Battle of the Dogger Bank. For this occasion, an inscription was engraved on the edge of the medal.
Description:
Het is een grote zware gouden medaille aan een gouden ketting. The coats of arms of the Republic, the House of Orange-Nassau and the Seven Provinces are placed on both sides.
