This medal of appreciation was commissioned by the municipal council of 's-Hertogenbosch and designed by the well-known engraver Lei Lennaerts. The medal was awarded in 2019 in the Oranjezaal of the city hall of 's-Hertogenbosch by mayor Jack Mikkers. The medal was awarded to figures and both Dutch and British institutions that were committed to the 10-day commemoration of 75 years of liberation. The surviving British veterans of the 43rd (Welsh) Infantry Division were also awarded the medal. They received a special silver version. The other recipients a tombak version. Mayor Mikkers himself received a special plaque with an engraving of the medal of appreciation on the front and back.
