    Biography

Wijnandus Antonius Maria (Tony) Visser fled the Netherlands in 1942 or 1943 and, after a month-long journey through France and Spain, arrived in England in November 1943. There he was recruited by the Dutch Bureau of Intelligence led by Colonel Jan Marginus Somers and trained as a marconist. On the night of May 7-8, Tony Visser landed on his parachute near Gorichem with the assignment to make contact with the Albrecht spy group. Initially from the Biesbosch and later from Rotterdam and Boskoop, he sent the messages collected by the group to England until he was arrested on December 20, 1944 and imprisoned in the Oranje Hotel.

There he was released on May 4, 1945 on the condition that he accompany SS officer Otto Haubrock and Dutch SD officer Sjefke to Brabant. He did not fulfill the agreement with Haubrock, but together with Sjefke he was taken by two Liniecrossers from Werkendam to Drimmelen. During this trip they almost drowned and ended up in a minefield. Sjefke died after 2 days from his injuries sustained from an exploding mine. Afterwards he turned out to be the notorious V-man Jos van Wesemael.
