According to a newspaper writing on the DKiG awarding:
"The Oberwachtmeister Claus Peters from Süderdeich, Zugführer in a Füselier-Bataillon from a Brandenburg Infantry Division, attacked with his men a Railway Emplacement in a Latvian city which was occupied by the Soviets and made the heavy defending enemy having to withdraw. After that he managed to struck back three counter attacks, inflicting heavy casualties amongst the enemy and managed to hold the area until reinforcements arrived."
