On this day, following a four-hour artillery barrage, the Soviets launched a major attack against the sector of the I./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 13 at around 08:00. At this time Leutnant Abraham and his 40 men were defending on the Bataillon’s right flank, and here they held off attack after attack for three-and-a-half hours despite having all rearward connections cut off by broken-in Soviet forces. Abraham only break out to the rear at around midday while also taking along all his wounded soldiers.
