Awarded for distinguishing himself with his Bataillon as his Division was pulling back to the Kuban bridgehead in February 1943. During the time period 13.-18.02.1943 the Bataillon repulsed 45 Soviet attacks, and it continued to provide good service up until when the 50. Infanterie-Division was able to occupy the so-called C-Line on the 24.02.1943.
