Biography
Hammond Davis Birks became the commanding officer of the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division in 1942. In late 1944, Colonel Birks was appointed Assistant Division Commander 9th Infantry Division under the command of Major General Louis Craig. He was promoted to Brigadier General in 1945. In 1946 he retired from the Army.
Hammond Birks died on 30th January 1973 and lies buried at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, United States, Section B, Grave 241-A.
