The following press article describes why Rudolf Fuchs received the Knight’s Cross…

“During the fighting south of Izyum Oberfeldwebel Fuchs not only succeeded in defeating an attacking enemy that outnumbered him 6-1. He also succeeded in throwing back Soviet forces that had penetrated into the neighbouring sector with his Bayreuthian Grenadiers via a counterattack on his own initiative, wherein the foe was largely destroyed in the process. He did this latter action despite being wounded twice.”
