"Major Andrews has been G2 (Operations) to Commander Glider Pilots during the last nine months. This is an entirely new post in the army in that it deals both with flying and military training, and operations of glider pilots.

During the time he has held this position his work has been quite excellent and it is mainly due to his hard work and careful tact with his role that the two last airborne operations were proved so successful on the glider side, i.e. Normandy 97.8% correct, Arnhem 90% correct.

These successes were in the main due to the industrious work of his office, especially during planning.

He also acted as a Pilot in the operation to Nijmegen and continued his valuable work during the ensuing ground operations."
Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
