Wheatley Theordore "Chris" Christensen Sr., 88 a resident of Annapolis, Maryland for 70 years and a highly decorated combat veteran of WW2, died of liver cancer. Born on 5 July 1918, Mr. Christensen tested submarine diesel engines at the Naval Experimental Station until the outbreak of World War 2. In spite of draft deferral status, he joined the Army and volunteered for the paratroopers. Ranked a "Tech Sgt", he was with Company G, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. His regiment was the only regiment within the 82nd Airborne to make all 4 combat jumps, Sicily, Salerno, Normandy and Holland. His awards, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Europe-Africa Campaign Medal with 6 battle stars, French Croix de Guerre and for his unit he was entitled to wear the Presidential Unit Citation, the Belgium Fourragere, Netherlands Orange Lanyard.
