Citation:
"While improving his position from where he could observe the enemy, Sergeant Belanger detected approximately twenty-five enemy about to launch an attack against his platoon. Waiting until most of them were 100 yards distant, he opened fire with his Thompson sub-machinegun and succeeded in killing five enemy. Exposing himself boldly he directed members of his platoon to fire upon the confused enemy. His courageous and prompt action subdued enemy resistance which threatened to inflict serious casualties to our troops."
