Biography

Otto Behrens was as technical officer involved in testing the Focke Wulf Fw 190 in operational use from Marcr 1941 at the Erprobungsstelle in Rechlin. At that moment he was Staffelkapitän with the 6. / Jagdgeschwader 26. A team of this Jagdgeschwader under the command of Oberleutnant Karl Borris was doing these testflights.
Between 23rd December 1941 and 30th June 1942 he operated in his former position again and was then transferred to the Kommando der Erprobungsstellen der Luftwaffe. Here he was promoted to Hauptmann on 1st January 1943 and to Major on 1st June 1944. From 1944 and onwards he was placed with the Stab / Kommando der Erprobungsstellen der Luftwaffe. His performance resulted on 15th September to nbeing appointed Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur A(o) 10/XI Rechlin, Kommandeur der Erprobungsstelle Rechlin.

After the Second World War he emigrated in June 1948 with Adolf Galland to Agentina. Here Otto Behrens went working as test-pilot and was killed on 9th October 1952 while testflying the Argentine version of the Ta-183.
