Citation:
"For gallantry in action on 2 January 1945, near Baerenthal, France. With his company pinned to its defensive positions by a heavy enemy artillery barrage and seriously threatened by approaching tanks, Sergeant Timchuk obtained a bazooka and exposing himself to tank and small arms fire, promptly moved forward to attack the enemy armor. Closing to within 150 yards of a tank harrassing the flank, he put it out of action with two well placed bazooka shells. His courageous initiative inspired his men to engage the enemy and was largely responsible for breaking the hostile attack."
