    Biography

    Bruno Piper was born in Kiel on 9th February 1910. from 1933 onwards he worked at the design bureau of the Krupp-Germaniawerft at Kiel. On 2nd July 1936, Bruno Piper married and the couple had a daughter on 11th November.

    During the first bombardment at Kiel during the night of 8th to 9th April 1941, Bruno was heavily wounded and his brother in law was killed. Bruno was left with blood poisoning as result of his wounds. His son was born to him and his wife on 10th July 1941. In March 1943, Bruno joined the Waffen-SS, where he was placed at Prague-Dewitz trainingschool on 8th April. in May 1943 he was transferred to the SS-Kraftfahrschule 1 at Apeldoorn. in the beginning of July followed a transfer to Mailly-le-Camp with the 12.SS-Panzer-Division "Hitlerjugend", where he was placed in the staff of SS-Sturmführer Sammann.
    In August 1943 followed the Panzerlehrgang in Berlin.

    In September 1943 his wife and children were evacuated from Kiel, where on 4th January 1944 his parents house was destroyed, trapping his father in the debry. His father died of the inflicted wounds on 19th January.

    Bruno Piper was captured by the Americans in Austria in May 1945 and was allowed to return home at whitsun 1946.

    In 1962 his mother died. Bruno Piper retired form his post-war job on 1st March 1975. On 1st November 2002 his wife died.
