This officer landed with a party of twelve men and although unable to find the rest of his Company, made straight for his Company objective, capturing two pill boxes and took several prisoners. He continued to hold his position against heavy counter attack and although wounded in the stomach refused to leave his men until ten hours later when he was ordered back for treatment by his Commanding Officer.
All through the fighting this officer led his men gallantly and set them a high example of personal bravery.
