"For gallantry in action. On 21-22 April 1945, when Company "G", 410th Infantry was isolated in Erkenbretchswiller, Germany, Private Fagre volunteered to deliver messages to all of the platoons. Although continuously exposed to small arms, mortar, rocket and artillery fire he carried messages from one end of the town to the other. While leading an aid man to an isolated squad, he was confronted by three enemy soldiers, and although seriously wounded himself, in the ensuing fire fight, he killed two of the enemy and wounded the third. His actions reflected the highest traditions of the military service."
