James WIlliam Bowman was born on June 16th 1914 as son to Alfred Eli Bowman, Sr., and Minnie Elvira Rollins Bowman. Hij was one of three sons that served in World War Two out of a family with 11 children (7 sons and 4 daughters).

"Chub" Bowman entered service at Fort Jackson, Colombia, South Carolina on April 9th, 1941. After him entering service, he maried Mary Lee with whom he had a son, Mickey, in 1943. James William BOwman died of Toxic Hepatitis on November 14th, 1944 in Glasgow, where he was treated for wounds received in France.
