Citation:
"For heroic achievement in action on 18 February 1945. In anticipation of an enemy mechanized counterattack on Oetingen, France (Red: Oeting), Technician Brown, communications sergeant, volunteered to accompany his commanding officer on a reconaissance for routes over which their 57m guns could be brought forward to support the attacking rifle troops. Under heavy artillery and mortar fire, they crossed and marked two mine fields for clearing and proceeded to complete their mission. While returning across open ground under enemy observation, Technician Brwon was killed by hostile artillery fire. His courageous action above and beyond the call of duty contributed greatly to the movement of AT guns into Oetingen (Red: Oeting) and in protecting the town for the attack."
Awarded posthumously.
