The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Sergeant George P. Rimmer (ASN: 35123520), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while Commanding Company A, 50th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action against enemy forces from 1 to 6 January 1945, at Bastogne, Belgium. First Sergeant Rimmer repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire, inspiring and encouraging his men by his fearless, courageous leadership.
