"This officer has completed 61 operational sorties. He has set a very high standard of efficiency, and his pirofessional knowledge has been of great value.
He is a most courageous captain, who, undeterred by the enemy's fire, presses home his attacks to the full."
Citation:
"Since the award of the D.F.C., this officer has completed a number of operational sorties. Sqn. Ldr Stanbury has no regard for his personal safety and is always first to volunteer for hazardous tasks.
On one occasion an aircraft had crashlanded in the desert, too far from base to be salvaged. The whole undersurface of the fuselage was ripped away, but Sqn. Ldr. Stanbury successfully flew it to base for rebuilding."
