Sergeant Francis E. Richardson (Army Serial Number 33554116), Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 21 November 1944 to 5 May 1945, in Belgium, Holland and Germany. Sgt Richardson's liaison work kept his company in constant touch with Division Headquarters. Many times he traveled at night over hazardous terrain to deliver important messages to his commanding officer. By his unflagging devotion to duty Sgt Richardson made a notable contribution to the efficient operation of his company during many months on the continent.
