Technician Fourth Grade William W. Blakney (Army Serial Number 39406348), Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 16 August 1944 to 8 May 1945, in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. During this period, Technician Fourth Grade Blakney's service as a mechanic was outstanding. His willingness to accept responsibility and to work long hours repairing vehicles of his organization aided materially in the smooth and efficient accomplishment of all assigned missions. The many moves of the Division and its swift and prolonged drives made necessary many extensive convoy operations. During these Technician Fourth Grade Blakney's superior mechanical skill and untiring devotion to duty made possible a minimum of mechanical failures. His actions reflect much credit upon himself and his organization.
