"Distinguished himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy during the period 1 October 1944 to 31 December 1944 in the European Theater of Operations. Throughout this period, Cpl. Walls performed his assigned duties in an exceptionaly meritorious manner. Charged with the safe delivery of mail and vital messages to his own, as welll as adjacent units, he displayed initiative and devotion to duty in the accomplishment of these duties. Despite the inclement weather and unfamiliar terrain, he completed every regularly assigned message center run in addition to many unscheduled ones. Cpl. Walls' courageous actions and perseverance were a credit to himself and to the Armed Forces of the United States."
