"As a gunner in the howitzer section he was outstanding in his work. His speed and accuracy enabled his section to deliver fast and devastating artillery fire against the enemy. When his chief of section was killed in action he took command of the howitzer section and through his leadership and ability kept the section delivering fire against the enemy. His calmness, leadership and ability is in keeping with the highest tradition of the Armed Forces."
