    Biography

    Charles O. Thrasher was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant during World War I. His fisrt discharge was in 1919, after which he was commissioned with the Quartermaste Corps in 1920. He then served in Washington D.C., Hawaii and San Francisco, where he served as Chief War Plans and Training Division.

    In 1940 he took over Command of the Seattle Port of Embarkation and the Seattle Quartermaster Depot, until May 1942. He then took over Command of Base Section, Loire Section, Communications Zone, ETO. This post he held up till June 1945. Here he was promoted Brigadier General in February 1944.
    Serving the U.S. Army, he retired in August 1946 as Brigadier General.

    "General Thrasher assumed command of the Southern Base Section, Communications Zone, in September, 1943, when plans were being established to launch the largest Allied military assault force in history. As the majority of the tactical forces were assembled in this section it was necessary for General Thrasher and his British counter-part to coordinate their activities to ensure the sufficient quantities of supplies, equipment and service personnel were readily available. Through his whole-hearted cooperation with both British military and civilian authorities, General Thrasher established excellent relationships between the American and British troops and the British civilians in the area."
