Biography
Severin Freischheim was born April 29th , 1910 in Oedekoven. October 1st, 1939 he joined the Wehrmacht and was trained for the infantry at Thorn/Weichsel.
He was deployed at the Western Front in France and Normandy with the 227 Infanterie Division from 1940 to 1942. From June 22nd, 1942 onwards he fought at the Eastern Front. From 1944 onwards he fought in the retreat via Eastern Prussia until he was captured by Sovjet forces in the vicinity of Nehrung in Eastern Prussia on April 25th, 1945. He remained in Russian captivity in Omsk, Siberia until 1949.
Severin Freischheim passed away on January 19th, 1988 in the St. Marien Hospital in Bonn, Germany.
