During a battle near Bruce on March 23rd he has relieved at the last moment, as ordered, a Croatian unit under the command of an Oberleutnant and which had been encircled, despite strong opposition from a 500 strong resistance group; in doing so he saved valuable equipment of the IV Gebirgs-Brigade.
On March 25th, he repulsed superior enemy forces, broke the opposition in G. Sumetlica and after consolidation of the area he cleared the supply route for the IV Gebirgs-Brigade.
