    Biography

    Thaddeus J. Szmyt was drafted on October 28th, 1942 and entered active service on October 28th, 1942. He was married to Ida Ferry and the couple had three children. Szmyt served as Tank Gunner with Company A, 778th Tank Battalion. He left for France on September 5th, 1944 to arrive there on September 16th. On November 27th, 1945 he returned towards the United States to arrive there on December 7th. He was honorably discharged on December 12th, 1945.
