Jan Dijkstra was born on February 24th, 1890 as the son to Beerend Dijkstra and Imkje Dijkstra. He was married to Sijke Kramer (March 17th, 1895, Alsum - August 1st, 1943, Meppel). the couple had five children.

Jan Dijkstra was resistance worker with KP-Meppel (Resistancegroup in Meppel) and was shot dead in Meppel on September 29th, 1943 by SD-men Rudolph Grimm and Ernst Makowski.
