"For gallantry in action in **** on 2 and 3 November 1944. On 2 and 3 November 1944 Lieutenant Snyder, acting as artillery forward observer, selected an observation post out in front of the main line and was arranging for radio communication when he was severely wounded by an enemy mortar shell burst. Though mortally wounded and in considerable pain, Lieutenant Snyder, for several hours, gave instructions to infantry personnel enabling them to adjust artillery fire
on the enemy. His demonstration of conspicuous gallantry, courage, and utter disregard for his own personal safety, resulting in the loss of his life, is a distinct credit to Lieutenant Snyder and exemplifies the highest traditions of the American soldier."
