Citation:
"For meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in the Province of Bataan, Luzon, Philippino Island, from 13 February 1945 to 21 February 1945. Lieutenant BECKER, an ambulance platoon leader in a collecting company, was responsible for evacuating the wounded of a regimental combat team under the most trying conditions. His unit was several ambulances short and the distances of evacuation were sometimes over fifty miles. He ingeniously established a shuttle system to evacuate the wounded. Normally the number of casualties would require the services of an entire collecting company. Lieutenant BECKER tirelessly made daily personal reconnaissances for evacuation routes. His untiring efforts and great ingenuity were responsible for the successful evacuation of all the wounded men and reflect the greatest honor upon himself and the military service."
