Lived in Westerwijtwerd (Loppersum), F 26. Son of Jan Dijkema (24 August 1878 - 4 April 1966) and Ida Eisenga (8 May 1878 - 7 December 1959). Married Pieterke Hillena Wierenga (3 August 1911 - 13 August 1986). Farmer. Reformed. Resistance member belonging to the OD and the LO-Appingedam. Partly because of his religious beliefs, Dijkema was fiercely involved in the resistance. He mainly operated in Appingedam. Dijkema sheltered a resistance fighter in his farm and hid coupons obtained during a robbery on a distribution office in the stable. On 22 September 1944, Dijkema was arrested and killed on the Rijksweg near Solwerd within the municipality of Appingedam by the Dutch SD'er Siert Bruins and the German SD'er August Neuhäuser. In 2013, Bruins voluntarily told the German television program Panorama that he had been involved in the murder of Dijkema. He denied being the shooter and identified the deceased Nauhäuser as the perpetrator. According to lawyer Klaus-Peter Kniffka, the interview with Panorama has no evidentiary value.
