Awarded for a number of wartime actions, the most important of which took place on the 28.08.1942 during a major Soviet armoured attack southwest of Kaluga. In the previous 12 days Hauser’s Bataillon had fended off a total of 38 hostile attacks, in which a total of 14 penetrations were eliminated in counterthrusts personally led by Hauser himself. On this particular day the German frontline was again held onto, and a total of 45 Soviet tanks were destroyed in this sector.
Awarded for recapturing the important crossroads at Recoque (NW of Neufchateau) at the start of September 1944, and also for the elimination of an enemy break-in along the Westwall northwest of Echternach.
