"From the formation of Burma Corps, Brigadier Davies held the position of B.G.S. He organised the staff of the Corps in the midst of operations and it was largely due to his example and inspiration that the staff functioned as efficiently as it did. He showed the greatest coolness in emergency, unbounded initiative and complete lack of any consideration for himself. His work, at all times, was of the highest order, and he inspired the greatest confidence throughout the whole Corps."
