Recommendation:
"During the fighting on the "Island" North of NIJMEGEN this NCO was responsible for taking up ammunition to a forward A.P. at VALBURG. Twice daily and sometimes more frequently he had to lead ammunition vehicles over the NIJMEGEN Bridge and through the village of VALBURG. For many days the bridge and the village were under fire. L/Cpl STAYT by his unfailing determination and initiative always succeeded in ensuring the arrival of the ammunition safely and on time. His devotion to duty at all times during the fighting in HOLLAND and especially under fire was outstanding."
