Citation:
"For heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in the vicinity of Landensberg, Germany, 26 April 1945. While the platoon which Technician Fifth Grade BARTH served as aid man was engaged in clearing high ground, enemy units on a steep cliff countered with small arms, grenades, and rocket fire. Although entirely exposed to hostile action and observation, Technician Fifth Grade BARTH moved freely about the area evacuating casualties. He administered first aid to the wounded, and moved many from exposed areas to points of relative safety. Although enemy fire continued undiminished, he steadfastly carried out his responsibilities until the wounded were cared for. Technician Fifth Grace BARTH's courage, resourcefulness and determination contributed toward saving several lives and reflect credit upon himself and the military service."
