During this period, Colonel Keller, as Commanding Officer of the First Battalion, 260th Infantry, gained the admiration, respect, and loyalty of officers and men in his unit by his energetic, fearless and capable leadership. Throughout the long and extended advance across Germany and Austria, Colonel Keller was constantly in the foremost elements leading his men. He displayed a profound tactical knowledge and an ability to make instant forceful decision that were invaluable to the successful accomplishments of his Battalion's missions. His excellent battle plans and the efficient manner in which he deployed his men have made Colonel Keller an inspring example to others. His intitiative, leadership, and untiring devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service."
