Has distinguished himself by courageous conduct against the enemy by, after having landed by parachute in the occupied Netherlands on 19 November 1940 with orders to form an organisation for intelligence work and to transmit the information obtained to England, although the information given to him in England was completely inadequate and he did not receive better instructions in response to his repeated telegraphic requests for guidelines, nevertheless managed to collect a large amount of information and transmit it to England and, after having worked as such in the occupied Netherlands for more than a year, to return to England on 18 September 1942.”
