Biography

Took service with the FFL on 5th November 1940. He was promoted to 'aspirant' in August 1941, after finishing the EOR (Elève Officier de Réserve) course at Camberley. Was then send to New Caledonia (French Polynesia).
After regrouping in England, he took part in Stage 67 at Largo and Hardwick from February 1942 until August 1943. On 8th August 1943 he was promoted to 'sous lieutenant'. He took part in operation 'Auchinleck' from February 1944 until June 1944 with 3rd R.C.P., 1st Squadron, 3rd SAS, in operation 'France' with the 3rd SAS, operation Jockworth' with VIII/1st Squadronon 16th August 1944 and operation 'Amherst' from 4th April 1945 until 20th April 1945 with 2/1st Squadron, 3rd SAS.
