On the 26.03.1945 the Deutsche Nachrichtenbüro published the following message…

“Leutnant Walter Glembotzki, born in Nette (near Dortmund) on the 13.04.1914, has especially distinguished himself during the fighting in the Straßburg bridgehead through his exceptional bravery and courage. From his position in open and snow-covered terrain he destroyed 11 tanks (including the command tank) out of a force of 12 American tanks. With this he achieved a defensive success that was vital for the holding of the bridgehead.”
