Followed his training at Cambray in August 1943 and was promoted to Private on 8th August 1943. He took part in operation 'France with 4th SAS, 'Samwest' in the second wave from 9th until 12th June 1944, in 'Spencer' with Squadron 2 from 26th August until 14th September 1944, in 'Franklin' from 24th December 1944 until 30th January 1945 with a combat Squadron and in 'Amherst' from 4th until 20th April 1945 with 23 Jeep Platoon, 4th SAS.
