"Major general Rakowski has led the 2nd Polish Armoured Division with great determination and skill throughout the campaign in Italy, from the exploitation of the success at MONTE CASSINO during the advance on the ADRIATIC Sector and up to the beaking of the GOTHIC LINE his tanks have been fought extremely well.
His outstanding action, which directly resulted in the quick approach of the 2nd Polish Corps to the METAUR river, ** the battle at ROSARIO on 26th August 1944, ***, through his quick appreciation and speedy execution of a bold, but nevertheless carefully thought out plan. Major General RAKOWSKI breached the enemy line with a minimum of tank casualties in spite of the enemy's intricate anti-tank defences and strength in anti-tank weapons. He is a fearless leader and a skilful commander."
