"Major General B. Szarecki's work for the Polish Medical Service as Consulting Surgeon and Inspector of Hospitals has been of the greatest possible value, he has, by his example and precept been an inspiration to all ranks of the Polish Medical units. This was particularly so during the Battle for Cassino, when the Surgeon of a field surgical unit having been killed by shell fire, he went forward and remained there operating himself throughout the battle.
He has constantly displayed great devotion to his task and his constant readiness to cooperate has done much to promote Inter-Allied fellowship, both during the campaign itself and throughout the long period of preparation beforehand."
Presented by Field Marshal Alexander on 7 April 1945 near Forli.
