Biography

Joined the 'FFL' in September 1940 in London and received the party badge Nr. 31668. After attending the course at Exbury from 15th May until 16th July 1941 he embarked on the "Cameronian" for operations in the Middel East like 'Kabrit' from 2nd January 1942 until 27th December 1942. After protection duties on the Malta convoys he was involved in defending the airfield at Barce on 12th and 13th June and took part in the Defense of El Alamein, the protection of the Airfields of El Daba on 12th July 1942 and Sidi-Haneish on 26th July 1942. From 20th August until 13th October 1942 he was involved in operation 'Snowdrop'. He returned to Great Britain on 10th December 1942 with 1st C.C.P. and regrouped. After a training at Camberley until August 1943 he was promoted to 'Sergent' on 8th August. After this he was transferred to the 'Ecole des Cadets' (officers cadets school) at Ribbesford and was involved in the operations 'Auchinleck' from February 1944 until June 1944 with 2nd R.C.P Squadron 1 / 4th Bataillon SAS, 'France' with 4th SAS, 'Samwest' with the second wave from 9th until 12th June 1944, 'Spenser' from 26th August until 14th September 1944 with Squadron 2 and with 'Amherst' from 4th until 20th April 1945 with 23/Pelotons Jeeps, 4th SAS.
