McNamee, John

Nationality:
American

Biography

Johnny enlisted in the army before Pearl Harbor and was trained in radio communications. After Pearl Harbor was bombed and the USA declared war on Japan, Johnny was kept in the States to train new recruits in radio communications which he did for three years. When Germany made an all out effort to regain lost ground to the Allied forces the Battle of the Bulge) which took place in northern Belgium, Johnny was called up to the front. He then was at the front of the battle line pushing back the weakened German forces. In one of the most difficult battles (The Crossing of the Rhine River), Johnny kept the lines of communication open so that USA forces (Tanks, Air support and ground forces) could help each other and keep the bridge intact so USA forces could cross the Rhine river and defeat the German forces by pushing them back to Berlin.
